About The Artwork

"Talkative Raven"
Anthony Gchachu (Zuni Pueblo)
Copper and gold leaf on canvas · 6" × 6" · Signed lower right · Original, one of a kind

Anthony Gchachu gives us a raven mid-call. Head lifted, beak open, feet closed hard around a weathered post. A depiction of a bird with something to say and no hesitation about saying it.

Ravens are constant company in Zuni country and across the Southwest Gchachu paints one at full voice and lets the cooper and gold leaf do what the high desert sky does at dusk.

Small enough for a shelf, a desk, or a wall of collected works. Ships ready to hang.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

ANTHONY GCHACHU

An evolving Native American artist in the 21st century from Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico, Anthony Gchachu is inspired by nature, architecture and the “movement” of the world. His message to the world reflects the stories of perseverance and the journey of life.

Gchachu’s latest series, "Land of The Shalako" portrays images of deer, birds, and wildlife, signifying and honoring loved ones who were lost throughout the pandemic. The playful yet powerful scenes are depicted by using beautiful vibrant colors of red, yellow and blue brush strokes.

Capturing breathtaking views of distant mountains and forest tree lines are inspired by endless drives through forest in New Mexico. Each painting expresses emotions of joy, happiness and a vision for hope. Gchachu’s passion for painting provides a beauty in the world like no other.
