About The Artwork

At the heart of the scene, a solitary figure in traditional regalia stands between two deer, symbolic of ancestral guidance. Surrounding them is a glowing grove of aspen trees, their leaves turning brilliant yellows and oranges—
an homage to the changing seasons of New Mexico. A turkey, representing the artist's own clan, joins the journey, while a magpie and soaring eagle overhead symbolize enduring partnership and spiritual vision.

Set against Gchachu’s signature gold leaf sky, this painting is both timeless and transcendent. The metallic background reflects natural light, shifting throughout the day and bringing the work to life in any space.

This meaningful composition blends wildlife, autumn landscapes, and Indigenous storytelling, making it a standout piece for collectors of Native American fine art, gold leaf paintings, and symbolic wildlife artwork.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

ANTHONY GCHACHU

An evolving Native American artist in the 21st century from Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico, Anthony Gchachu is inspired by nature, architecture and the “movement” of the world. His message to the world reflects the stories of perseverance and the journey of life.

Gchachu’s latest series, "Land of The Shalako" portrays images of deer, birds, and wildlife, signifying and honoring loved ones who were lost throughout the pandemic. The playful yet powerful scenes are depicted by using beautiful vibrant colors of red, yellow and blue brush strokes.

Capturing breathtaking views of distant mountains and forest tree lines are inspired by endless drives through forest in New Mexico. Each painting expresses emotions of joy, happiness and a vision for hope. Gchachu’s passion for painting provides a beauty in the world like no other.
