About The Artwork

Altar Pot Series was inspired by Japanese Architecture and was given meaning in honoring God for giving the artist the ability to produce works of art through the medium of clay. Each level represents an enlightenment and understanding. Each piece is unique and one of a kind. Made with micaceous earthenware from Taos, New Mexico, hand processed, hand built using traditional techniques with a reduction pit-fire to blacken the pottery.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

SUANN DAVIN

Suann Davin's tribal affiliation is Taos Pueblo. Suann's experience with clay started as a child. She took classes at the local art store, art classes in school, and individual classes in commercial ceramics. Later in life, Suann was enrolled at The Institute of American Indian Art where she was introduced to traditional Native American pottery.
