About The Artwork

"Father's Blessing"
Anthony Gchachu (Zuni Pueblo)
Acrylic on canvas · 4" × 4" · Signed lower right · Original, one of a kind

Three figures stand together at the edge of a canyon, looking toward the horizon. Above them, Father Eagle guides them through a wide turquoise sky.

Gchachu wraps each figure in a blanket of its own color: rose, deep blue, red and runs a band of white and gold down the center of every one. Three separate people, one shared direction. Below them the land runs in horizontal strokes of orange, red, and rust, the way mesa country reads at the end of the day.

Gchachu paints the figures from behind, as he often does, so the viewer stands where they stand and looks where they look. The title names what is happening in the sky as a Father's blessing by a spiritual eagle.

Four inches square — intimate work that holds a room. Ships ready to hang.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

ANTHONY GCHACHU

An evolving Native American artist in the 21st century from Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico, Anthony Gchachu is inspired by nature, architecture and the “movement” of the world. His message to the world reflects the stories of perseverance and the journey of life.

Gchachu’s latest series, "Land of The Shalako" portrays images of deer, birds, and wildlife, signifying and honoring loved ones who were lost throughout the pandemic. The playful yet powerful scenes are depicted by using beautiful vibrant colors of red, yellow and blue brush strokes.

Capturing breathtaking views of distant mountains and forest tree lines are inspired by endless drives through forest in New Mexico. Each painting expresses emotions of joy, happiness and a vision for hope. Gchachu’s passion for painting provides a beauty in the world like no other.
